Wonderful. Loved their uncertainty, and the simmering lust with the undercurrent of the possibility of something else in the future.

The small details in this are fantastic: Vecchio's Bookman angst is nicely shaded in, and I love the way Kowalski is such a fantastic manipulator, and that he uses his powers for good :-) I also like the way that they have sex but don't kiss - it seemed very Ray/Ray-ish, and I liked how they were both very tough and very squishy at the same time. Boys!

Great job with this - it was a real pleasure to read and I was fascinated by the dynamic between Vecchio and Kowalski. Such a tricky, tricksy pairing!

*does complex flaily motions with arms in an attempt to articulate how much I enjoyed this*

The angstiness of Ray's Bookman issues is handled beautifully and I love how Kowalski understands him and is not put off by Ray's prickliness. The 'good cop' approach was AWESOME and makes perfect sense to me and you brought the perfect lines like "But Kowalski wore them almost all the time now when they were working, ever since Ray had taken his third bullet while Kowalski was locked in deadly combat with his jacket pocket." which wins for a) being funny and b) showing us a hell of a lot about how Kowalski feels about Vecchio without telling us anything.

And also? Hot. Hot like melting in the flames hot. Kowalski forcing Vecchio to admit he was thinking about him? Oh. My. God.

And at the end, Vecchio's worry and Kowalski's relief just made me want to put my arms round them both and squish you tight. I would also squish you for writing this but you are faaaaaaaaaaaaar away. *squishes anyway*

Gee, a yawn maneuver and excellent humor throughout? I could have guessed that this was a belmanoir fic! It's hot and funny and touching throughout, which means that it's perfect.

I really, really like this. First of all, I don't understand why have such a thing for fic portrayals of Kowalski being perfectly happily queer, but I love this -- him being queer, and he and Stella loving each other, and Kowalski really wanting Ray's friendship and more.

I think I've started to get a real perception in my mind that Stella knew Kowalski was queer, and him wishing he wasn't is part of why he kept going after her, and they both really love each other still. Although in my mind he's bisexual, so the two pieces of personal fanon don't mesh. But anyway, that works perfectly with your story.

What I love you do here is to make all of the characters have really good hearts and really care about each other. Also, hot sex. ;)

::flails and melts::

Ohhh, RayK is just so vulnerable and so damn BRAVE! And I love that it's all Vecchio pov so that it's not till the very end that you realise quite how much is at stake for Kowalski too...

I adore the ending. And I actually laughed out loud in a couple of places - wonderful balance of angst and funny and HOTTT. ::applauds, and bookmarks fic::

Oh, God, I don't want to like Ray/Ray stories, because I usually find the pairing tragic by definition. The Random Story Generator shoved this one in front of my face today, though, and you hooked me from the first sentence, and, darn it, I liked it a lot. I didn't even really find it tragic, because the absence of Fraser was handled so expertly. I don't think it was the necessarily large dose of handwavium that made me suspend disbelief, but actually the fact that the story you *were* telling was so expertly done that it distracted me from any contemplation of where Fraser was and why he and RayK hadn't stayed together. Vecchio's separation from Stella was believably explained.

The story also distracted me with fascinatingly complex characterizations of both Rays, a hot sex scene, and beautiful writing. Kowalski's "good cop" dating method seemed spot-on, and yes, of course he's the good cop in that partnership. I will never not have to suspend disbelief high in the air for this pairing, but darn it, you made do that and enjoy it at the same time. :)

Love this so much! Kowalski good-copping RayV in spite of Ray's best efforts to be nasty, luring him, snappy and stubborn, into friendship and romance. Yay!

Eeeee! This was AWESOME. Funny and sweet with just the right amount of sharp edge to it. And WOW, am I a fan of the dirty talking. HUGE FAN. Awesome work! :)

So good! I love stories of the two Rays figuring each other out, the squabbling, the understanding, and here, here we have a very tired RayV realizing what a good friend (and more) he's got in the goofy Polack, and I am grinning very happily. :)

Loved the character voices, the Good Cop explanation, and the problems Vecchio still has dealing with his undercover stint. Nice to see the long term consequences.

Hot hot hot! And with a few deliciously thinky bits, like Kowalski explaining the good-cop theory of dating, that you have to care - and the bit with Nadine in accounting was just such a cleverly done example. And the bits about Vecchio feeling sort of tainted by his mob-persona - I really liked that, too.

oh, wow, I LOVE this. This is GREAT - it pulled me in, and it made sense, and they were just fucked up enough, if you know what I mean? It just WORKED - the perfect level of angst, the perfect amount of - yeah, *interest*. I LOVED this.

>>>Jesus, Kowalski thought he was a virgin. Ray didn't know if that was sort of sweet or just insulting.

That made me giggle out loud, as well as the following line, with Kowalski worried if it had been Fraser. I like that Vecchio doesn't make him say it.

>>>The world went hot and slow, and Ray still couldn't think of a lie, couldn't think, couldn't even remember what he'd wanted to forget. "You."

so. fucking. HOT.

>>>"You good-copped me," he said fuzzily.

"Yeah," Kowalski said, sounding as drained as Ray felt. "You just have to mean it, and it works every time." Ray rolled over, and Kowalski flashed him a tired grin and winked. "You can bad cop me next time."

SO MUCH LOVE. I LOVE that.

>>>nd what was wrong with him, that he was overcome with gratitude because Kowalski had given him a tactful hickey?

*dying* Tactful hickey. that is Ray Kowalski ALL THE WAY.

>>>he kissed Ray back like he'd refused to fuck him before, hard and fast and desperate, and when he stopped it was to press his face into the crook of Ray's neck.

beautiful, BEAUTIFUL. I fucking love this. GREAT fic.

Oh, man, I really loved this. You totally nailed (you should pardon the expression) both of the Rays, in their inarticulateness and their difficulty and their strong regard for one another underneath it all - and the fact that, ultimately, they are BOTH good cops.

And holy FUCK, the sex was hot. Kowalski's fingers are a bulletproof kink for me - but Kowalski sinking that one last impossible inch into Ray? Kowalski's *hipbones*? NNNGUH.

This story, despite being quite angsty at times, made me ridiculously happy and left this wonderful warm feeling. Yay YOU, dear anonymous! :)

Pir8fancier recommended this, and I'm so glad she did! This is just wonderful all around. I'm so completely in love with the idea of dating being just like being good cop - I never would have thought of it, but it's so totally true.

Aiyee! Thank you, thank you! Angsty and painful, and just this slow working by RayK to bring RayV back to the land of the living. I love how at beginning RayK is angry on his behalf, how he sees them using him and the toll it takes, and then WE see the toll it takes as the story progresses. And I like hopeful endings so much squee on that score. Plus I like hot boy secks so we just have multitudes of SQUEE! Thank you so much!
