OH! LOVE! such love! I love this whole thing!
>> His mouth also seemed to be disconnected from his brain, because there was no other explanation for what popped out of it. "I can see up your nose."
HEE. I heart Ray SO much. he is ME.
>>Ray twisted back and yep, those were snowshoes leaning against the wall behind Ray's desk.
"Of course you snowshoed here
Of COURSE. why would he NOT? he's FRASER.
>>This was not just any smile. This was like the sun in July or a spotlight on a dark stage. It felt like a promise.
that is a great fucking description. Perfection, right there.
>>And in all the years he'd been with Stella, she'd never once noticed when it broke or when he got a new one, when he was wearing it and when he wasn't.
oh, I love that. that's huge. that's enormous. that's real and true and just - yes.
>>He could feel Fraser's smile on his neck in recognition. "As you wish," Fraser whispered back.
And right there, Ray had won the fucking lottery. Benton Fraser understood exactly what Ray was talking about, no explanations needed. He just knew. Every time.
I laughed out loud with happiness right here. oh, I just - however much I enjoy clueless, stoic Fraser, I LOVE when he GETS it. LOVE IT, and just - yeah. yes. this is wonderful. this is perfect. what a totally worthwhile 90 minutes of snowshoeing for Ray. (I LOVE that he's not willing to settle for fast and quiet. LOVE IT.)
YAY!

Aw, this is just so heartwarming and it made me happy to read. Shout-out to The Princess Bride, hee! (Although in my experience with snowshoes...60 minutes for four miles would very much be pushing it in untracked snow...but perhaps Fraser just assumes everyone's as superhuman as he is!)

Oh my ... THANK YOU SO MUCH! This is just great and absolutely what I hoped for!
Oh, Ray, sitting alone at the station, his feet on the table ... and then Fraser comes along ... SNOWSHOES! Only Fraser, really! And the supply closet - God, I love that room:)
KISS!
Thanks again!
