This is great! The turtle metaphor is lovely and never heavy-handed; the revisiting of canon is maybe a little long but through Ray's eyes (and especially with their relationship going on!) it's interesting and new; the quest is a nifty take on the two guys who can't talk thing. The little details really grounded the story and made it seem real. I liked it bunches!

I think this story dragged me through every emotion on the scala. There's the sadness as Fraser kind of drifts away from Ray during the adventure, the way that he's keeping Ray at an arm's length. There's the mixing of episodes into the story as well. There's the emotional roller coaster of seeing it from Ray's POV, the sadness, the anger, the determination.
Most of all, though, I loved the laughs. The turtle metaphor is perfect, just like Ray adding turtle traits to the igloo, in both the metaphorical way as well as adding actual legs and tail to it *g*
In every way possible, a perfect story.

Long, enjoyable read. I love the title, love the turtle metaphor, LOVE the turtle igloo! Best house ever in dS fic! Very nice character studies of both Ray and Fraser. The scene in the supply closet is priceless as is the bit about Dief's being the traitor. (Hee!) Cool references to canon that show in-depth knowledge of it. Hurty, sad Fraser parts and anxious Ray (I just love your Ray) and great ending. Great last line! An all-around good read.
